The 16-year-old stallion Chacoon Blue (Chacco-Blue x Cartoon 21) has passed away, Schockemöhle Breeding Station has announced in a press release. The stallion did not recover from a bout of laminitis following a successful colic operation, and had to be euthanized.
"With Chacoon Blue, we have lost a truly outstanding sire whose character, will to win and jumping ability were something very special, which he also passed on to his offspring in a remarkable way. Despite a temporary improvement, we unfortunately had to make this difficult decision in the best interests of the horse," commented Paul Schockemöhhle in the press release.
Chacoon Blue, born at the Lewitz Stud, attracted attention early on. At his 2016 stallion performance test in Schlieckau, he received a dream score of 10 for his free jumping and jumping ability. With Germany’s Philip Rüping the stallion competed at international Grand Prix level, making his last appearance in Frankfurt in 2019.
Following in the footsteps of his famous father Chacco-Blue, Chacoon Blue has himself become a well-known sire and has numerous successful offspring in the sport as well as almost 60 licensed sons. Last year, Chacoon Blue made headlines in Germany with Bundeschampions Chacoona Cat ridden by Sophie Hinners and Chaqueen ridden by David Will.
