Very sadly, Lord de Theize has passed away at the age of 17. Successfully competed by Olivier Guillon since he was 7-years-old, Lord de Theize became an important part of the French team for many years jumping to team silver at the 2010 World Equestrian Games in Kentucky and at the 2011 European Championships in Madrid.
On his Facebook page, Guillon writes: "It is with great emotion that I announce the death of Lord of Theize today. He spent a peaceful retirement at home since 2014, but a few weeks ago he suffered a stroke and his condition has unfortunately not improved despite the care he received (...) It was a very special horse, for whom I had great affection. We shared a great time. I am happy and grateful to have crossed his path. I thank all those who surrounded us during those golden years, riders, farriers, veterinarians ... Today I have a special thought for Edith Mézard, his owner and friend who joined us on each contest and for Laetitia Ferrier, who was his groom for over 9 years.”
Our thoughts go out to Olivier and his entire team.
