Marcus Ehning's former World Cup Champion and Team World Champion Plot Blue (Mr. Blue x Pilot) has passed away at the age of 22, after having an accident on the phantom at the French stud where he was breeding.
Plot Blue jumped at the World Equestrian Games in Aachen in 2006 and the European Championships in Mannheim in 2007 with Switzerland's Werner Muff, before Ehning took over the reins. In 2010, Ehning and Plot Blue won the World Cup Final in Geneva and that same year the stallion claimed the team gold for Germany at the World Equestrian Games in Lexington, Kentucky. With Ehning in the saddle, Plot Blue also took the team bronze at the European Championships at Windsor in 2009 and finished 12th individually at the Olympic Games in London in 2012.
During his career, Plot Blue won more than 1.2 million Euro. With Ehning, Plot Blue won the CSI5* Grand Prix in Cannes, the CSIO5* Grand Prix in St. Gallen, the CSI3* Grand Prix in Mannheim as well as contributing to several German Nations Cup victories – just to mention some of his many successes.
In 2015, Plot Blue was retired in Geneva and shifted his focus to his breeding career. Plot Blue's legacy will now live on through his offspring.
Our thoughts go out to Plot's owner Kathrin Somogyi as well as Marcus and his team and all those closely connected to Plotty.
