Niels Bruynseels’ former success horse Pommeau du Heup (Helios de la Cour x Thurin) has passed away, at the age of 18.

With Bruynseels in the saddle, Pommeau du Heup was on the winning Belgian team at the CSIO5* Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Lummen in 2015 and also ended third in the Longines Grand Prix at the same event. In 2014, the pair was on the winning team at the CSIO5* Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup in Rome. The two were also a part of the Belgian team at the 2015 European Championships in Aachen.

In 2016, the stallion was sold to China and Daniel Zhiwen took over the reins before several other riders followed. Pommeau du Heup did his last international appearances in January 2019 with Hong Kong’s Kenneth Cheng in the saddle.

Our thoughts go out to all those close to Pommeau du Heup.
