At the age of 21, the 2010 World Champion Vigo d’Arsouilles has passed away. A statement on Stal de Muze’s website reads: "One of the most beautiful stories in our lives came to an end last night, unexpected but really grateful for everyone involved in this great story. Thank you Champ, Vigo".
With Belgium’s Philippe Le Jeune in the saddle, Vigo d’Arsouilles became World Champion in Kentucky in 2010. Vigo d’Arsouilles also won team bronze at the same championships, as well as representing Belgium at the Europeans in 2009 and 2011 and further at the Olympic Games in London in 2012 - his last international appearance. In 2009, the pair was 4th in the prestigious Grand Prix of Aachen and they jumped several double clear Nations Cup rounds for Belgium at venues such as Dublin, La Baule and Rome.
Vigo d’Arsouilles also proved himself as a breeding stallion and has sired many international Grand Prix horses such as Ian Millar’s Dixson, Penelope Leprevost’s Vagabond de la Pomme, Edwina Tops-Alexander’s Ego van Orti, Alberto Zorzi’s Fair Light van't Heike, Darragh Kenny’s Go Easy de Muze, Shane Breen’s Golden Hawk as well as Cian O’Connor’s Irenice Hortan to mention a few.
Our thoughts go out to all those close to the incredible Vigo d’Arsouilles.
