Farewell to Willi Melliger

Tuesday, 16 January 2018

Photo (c) Willi Melliger has very sadly passed away. Photo (c)

Very sadly, Willi Melliger has passed away at the age of 64.

A two-time silver medallist at the Olympic Games in 1996 in Atlanta (individual) and in 2000 in Sydney (team) with Calvaro V, Melliger wrote jumping history for Switzerland – also by becoming European Champion with the Swiss team in 1995. In recent years, Melliger shifted his focus to coaching. writes that Melliger was operated a year ago following a heart attack, and suffered a stroke in the middle of December 2017 which had kept him in a coma in the weeks prior to his passing.

Our sincere condolences go out to Melliger’s family and friends in this difficult time.
