Very sadly, Willi Melliger has passed away at the age of 64.

A two-time silver medallist at the Olympic Games in 1996 in Atlanta (individual) and in 2000 in Sydney (team) with Calvaro V, Melliger wrote jumping history for Switzerland – also by becoming European Champion with the Swiss team in 1995. In recent years, Melliger shifted his focus to coaching.

Studforlife.com writes that Melliger was operated a year ago following a heart attack, and suffered a stroke in the middle of December 2017 which had kept him in a coma in the weeks prior to his passing.

Our sincere condolences go out to Melliger’s family and friends in this difficult time.
