Spain's Gerardo Menendez Mieres has announced that his long-time partner and championship horse Cassino DC (San Patrignano Cassini x Reichsgraf) is being retired from the sport, at the age of 16.

Menendez Mieres and Cassino DC represented Spain on multiple occasions in Nations Cups around Europe as well as at the European Championships in Gothenburg in 2017. The pair won the CSIO5* Grand Prix in Gijon, Spain, in 2017, and was on the winning Spanish team in the CSIO3* Nations Cup in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2015.

On his official Instagram page, Menendez Mieres writes: “Thank you very much for everything my friend, you have taught me to see that dreams can come true. I will never forget you....”

At World of Showjumping, we wish Cassino DC a happy retirement.
