Harrie Smolders has today announced the sale of the 12-year-old stallion Uricas v/d Kattevennen (Uriko x Cassini I), that in the future will be seen with USA's Callie Schott.
With Smolders in the saddle, Uricas v/d Kattevennen jumped at this year's Olympic Games in Paris as part of the Dutch team that finished 4th, and he was also on the team for the 2023 European Championships in Milan.
Together, Smolders and Uricas v/d Kattevennen won last year's CSIO5* 1.60m Longines Grand Prix of St Gallen and the CSI5* 1.60m Longines Global Champions Tour Grand Prix of Riesenbeck. This year, they were 3rd in the CSI5* 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix at The Dutch Masters, 3rd in the CSIO5* 1.60m Longines Grand Prix of Rotterdam and 3rd in the CSIO5* 1.60m Tourmaline Oil Cup at the Spruce Meadows 'Masters' – to mention a few of their highlights.
"Spronken Stables and I are pleased to congratulate Southern Arches on the acquisition of Uricas vd Kattevennen," Smolders wrote on social media. "Uricas will continue his career in the United States with Callie Schott. Uricas; the one and only. Your looks, your canter, your attitude, your bravery, your courage and last but not least, your performances. As a team we are very grateful that we have been part of such a successful journey. From an 8yr old you stepped up to 5* Grand Prix wins and set our career with another Olympic milestone in Paris. The process of progress gave us so much satisfaction and we believe the best is still to come. To deliver another world class horse makes us very proud and we wish you and your new rider all the best. We will be your biggest supporters and cheer and follow wherever we can. Good luck my friend."
