Stephex Stables has announced the sale of their 10-year-old mare Irenice Horta (Vigo d’Arsouilles x Diamant de Semilly), that in the future will be seen under Ireland’s Cian O’Connor.
Irenice Horta has had a very good summer season with Lorenzo de Luca in the saddle, and jumped to a 7th place individually at the World Equestrian Games in Tryon. In October, the pair finished 4th in the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix in Doha, and they were also 3rd in the CSIO5* Grand Prix in Dublin back in August.
“I am thrilled to have been able to secure this special mare. I look forward to getting to know her and aiming towards the European Championships in Rotterdam next August, where Team Ireland are seeking that all-important Olympic qualification,” O’Connor tells World of Showjumping.
Stephan Conter of Stephex Stables made the following statement on their social media today, writing:
“Today, Stephex Stables is parting ways with one of the best horses in the world, Irenice Horta.
I would like to wish the best of luck to her new rider, Cian O’Connor.
I would especially like to thank and congratulate my daughter Zoe Conter for producing this mare from 7yo up to the top level. Also thank you to Lorenzo de Luca, for the fantastic results during the last months.
Good luck Irenice, show them the star you are!”
