Jack Ryan’s 11-year-old BBS McGregor (VDL Cardento 933 x Mark Twain XX, bred by Marguerite Ryan) has been sold to the United Arab Emirates. With BBS McGregor, Ryan was part of the Irish team that claimed silver at the 2021 European Championship for young riders and the two also represented Ireland at the 2022 and 2023 Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup Final in Barcelona. This summer, the pair was a part of the winning Irish team in the CSIO5* Nations Cup in Rome – one of their many successful Nations Cup appearances over the last years.
“It’s a bittersweet sale,” Jack Ryan told World of Showjumping after initially announcing the sale on social media. “McGregor is a very special horse to my family; we bred him and produced him the whole way to five-star level. We had many fantastic days with him, many of which my family was there so it was a great feeling.”
