Jos Lansink has resigned from his position as Dutch chef d'equipe, the Dutch Equestrian Federation (KNHS) announced on Wednesday.
Lansink, who in 2022 succeeded Rob Ehrens as chef d'equipe, guided the Dutch to team silver at the 2022 World Championship in Herning, Denmark, and simultaneously qualified the team for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
"For three years I have fulfilled my position with great pleasure, but I see no opportunity to fulfil my duties as national coach when combined with my own company,” Lansink said in a press release from KNHS. “Sometimes you have to make choices in life and I have done that. It is a beautiful job, but also a job that takes a lot of time. Doing this job, I want to commit 100% to it and do it the way I think it should be done. I want to see the riders and horses regularly at shows and not just look at the results. That takes a lot of time and I have enjoyed doing it, but I have a business at home with many activities and I can't do both."
While KNHS is looking for a successor for Lansink, their technical director Iris Boelhouwer said in a press release from KNHS: "We respect Jos' decision to focus entirely on his own company, even if we are sad to see him go. Over the past three years he has shared his passion, experience and expertise, which means a lot to our riders and the entire team. We are very grateful to Jos for everything he has achieved."
