Jur Vrieling's 11-year-old Long John Silver 3 N.O.P. (Lasino x San Patrignano Corrado, bred by Peter Burmeister) has been sold to Switzerland, the Dutch rider confirmed to World of Showjumping after initially announcing the sale on social media on Thursday.
"Good bye our dearest LONG JOHN SILVER," Vrieling wrote on his official Instagram account. "What an incredible partner you have been for us. In love from day one. What you have achieved for us in 2 years time is just so incredible with so many fantastic moments of which we could have only dreamt off. Its time for you to bring your new rider, a super talented young rider to the next stage of her career. Thank you and see you on the big stage delivering happiness to your new partner!! Thank you Long John!!"
With Vrieling in the saddle, Long John Silver was part of the Dutch team that won a silver medal at the 2022 World Championships in Herning (DEN). The two also took part at the 2022 Longines FEI Jumping Nations Cup™️ Final in Barcelona (ESP), as well as the 2023 Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™️ Final in Omaha (USA) and the 2023 FEI Jumping European Championship in Milan (ITA).
