Long John Silver 3 (Lasino x Corrado I, breeder Peter Burmeister, owner SF Equestrian B.V.) – Jur Vrieling's team silver medallist from the 2022 World Championships – has been included in the Dutch Olympic Horse Foundation (De Stichting Nederlands Olympiade Paard).
Long John Silver 3 joins Maikel van der Vleuten's top horse Beauville Z N.O.P. (Bustique x Jumpy des Fontaines, breeder Pascal Habets, owner Marta Ortega-Perez), Harrie Smolders' Monaco N.O.P. (Cassini II x Contender, breeder Ralf Leutja, owners Evergate Stables LLC and Harrie Smolders) and Willem Greve's Grandorado TN N.O.P. (Eldorado van de Zeshoek x Carolus II, breeder M. Rietberg and D. Verhoeven, owners Team Nijhof and Willem Greve) that already are part of the foundation – which aims to keep top horses with medal potential in the Netherlands.
With Vrieling in the saddle, Long John Silver 3 had a successful 2022-season. In addition to the team silver medal at the World Championships in Herning, the 11-year-old Holsteiner gelding jumped clear rounds in the CSIO5* Nations Cups in St. Gallen and Falsterbo. In addition, Long John Silver 3 finished third in the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix in Doha, third in the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix in Riyadh and third in the CSI5*-W Longines FEI Jumping World Cup™ in Lyon.
