Stoeterij Duyselshof has announced the retirement of Leopold van Asten's VDL Groep Zidane (Heartbreaker x Calando I).

On Stoeterij Duyselshof's Facebook page, Van Asten comments: "I had a fantastic time for many years with Zidane with a lot of success! He is a real fighter and was always giving his best. He has a strong character and is very intelligent. He jumped the biggest tracks without effort, so scopy he was! I will really miss him and I wish him a nice time in the field with his new friend Ushi. Thank you for everything my friend!"

Together, Van Asten and the now 16-year-old gelding won the CSI5* Rolex Grand Prix in Den Bosch in 2017, the CSI5* and CSI4* Grand Prix classes in La Coruna in 2014 as well as the CSI2* Grand Prix classes in Lier in 2017 and in Lanaken in 2019. The pair was also a part of the winning Dutch teams in the CSIO5* Nations Cup in Falsterbo in 2015 and in La Baule in 2016.

VDL Groep Zidane will enjoy the rest of his life in the fields at Stoeterij Duyselshof.

We wish Zidane a happy retirement!
