Stoeterij Duyselshof has announced the retirement of Leopold van Asten's VDL Groep Zidane (Heartbreaker x Calando I).
On Stoeterij Duyselshof's Facebook page, Van Asten comments: "I had a fantastic time for many years with Zidane with a lot of success! He is a real fighter and was always giving his best. He has a strong character and is very intelligent. He jumped the biggest tracks without effort, so scopy he was! I will really miss him and I wish him a nice time in the field with his new friend Ushi. Thank you for everything my friend!"
Together, Van Asten and the now 16-year-old gelding won the CSI5* Rolex Grand Prix in Den Bosch in 2017, the CSI5* and CSI4* Grand Prix classes in La Coruna in 2014 as well as the CSI2* Grand Prix classes in Lier in 2017 and in Lanaken in 2019. The pair was also a part of the winning Dutch teams in the CSIO5* Nations Cup in Falsterbo in 2015 and in La Baule in 2016.
VDL Groep Zidane will enjoy the rest of his life in the fields at Stoeterij Duyselshof.
