This past weekend, Marcus Ehning’s 14-year-old stallion Stargold (Stakkato Gold x Lord Weingard) could once again be seen on a Grand Prix podium when finishing third in the CSI2* Grand Prix in Peelbergen – at his third FEI show following a longer break.

The 2023 Aachen Grand Prix winner made his international comeback in Riesenbeck during the first weekend of November after a 17-month absence, before jumping two smaller classes in Maastricht later that same month. Now, the stallion looks to be back in shape with a double clear round in his first Grand Prix following his break. “I’m happy to have him back,” Ehning said to WoSJ about the return of his championship mount.
