After a break of eight months, Martin Fuchs’ Chaplin (Verdi TN x Concorde) has returned to the international rings this weekend – jumping at the CSI1* show in Peelbergen, Netherlands. The 13-year-old stallion did his last international appearance in Estoril last year, where he won the CSI5* LGCT Grand Prix.
“So far he feels very good, obviously I hope it stays like that,” Fuchs says to World of Showjumping. “He jumps a couple of small classes here in Peelbergen, and then I plan to bring him to Arezzo to jump him a bit in the Medium Tour – there he can also compete on grass. I think by May he should be back competing at the higher level and do a few five-star shows. Hopefully, I will be able to count on him as my second option for the Olympic Games. That being said, I take it show by show and I don’t make too big plans. I will not be using him as much as I did last year, but plan to pick some nice shows for him – bringing him out only to the best venues.”
