Earlier this week, at the Equigala in Brussels, Niels Bruynseels was named Rider of the Year in Belgium. Last year, Bruynseels won the Rolex Grand Prix in ’s Hertogenbosch, the Rolex Grand Prix in Knokke, the Grand Prix in Waregem and was a part of the team that won the Longines FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona.

Team Philippaerts and Ben Beevers' former top horse Harley vd Bisschop (Dulf vd Bisschop x Coronado), that was sold to Bertram Allen in the autumn of 2018, was awarded as Horse of the Year. Harley vd Bisschop jumped a double clear in the Longines FEI Nations Cup Final in Barcelona to help Belgium win, as well as going to the top in the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Cascais and finishing second in the Global Champions Tour Grand Prix in Madrid.

The jumping team from the Nations Cup in Barcelona, consisting of Niels Bruynseels, Pieter Devos, Nicola Philippaerts, Wilm Vermeir and Jos Verlooy were awarded as the Team of the Year.
