John Whitaker has decided not to make his top horse Argento available for selection for the 2015 Europeans in Aachen in August. Horse & Hound reports that after a fantastic outdoor season - that has seen Argento topping the Nations Cup in Rome as well as ending second in the LGCT Grand Prix classes in Monaco and London - the British rider has made the decision not to put the 13 year old stallion through the championships in Aachen, based on the fact that Argento 'isn’t quite as competent in a big grass arena' compared to smaller sand rings. John says to Horse & Hound; “He always tries his best and I don’t want to break his heart in something he’s not comfortable in.”
Argento is not the only top horse not being made available for selection for the British team, as Scott Brash earlier this month revealed that Hello Sanctos will not be going to Aachen.
