At the age of 16, Jerome Guery's faithful partner Papillon Z has been retired from the sport.
"It is with a lot of emotion that the Woitrin-family and I have decided to offer a well-deserved retirement to Papillon. Papillon helped me win my first five-star Grand Prix, got me into the Top 30 and also opened a place for me at the Rio Olympics. Papillon is a horse that not only has a very special place in my career, but also in the hearts of all those who have taken care of him...." writes Guery on his Facebook page.
Together, the couple won the CSI5* Grand Prix of Lummen and Knokke back in 2015 as well as the CSI4* Grand Prix of Mons that same year. The two also took numerous other wins together, such as in Geneva, Maastricht and Chantilly. Before Guery took over the ride on Papillon, he had a successful career under Gregory Wathelet and Rik Hemeryck too.
Papillon Z now gets to enjoy the fields at Guery's stables in Belgium.
