During the 2024 Longines Global Champions Tour of Mexico City, Patricio Pasquel's Babel (Billy du Lys x High-Flyer) was retired from the sport.

With Pasquel in the saddle, the home-bred Babel had a long and successful career. In 2022, Babel and Pasquel were part of the Mexican team that won the Nations Cup in Coapexpan and they also helped Mexico secure a second-place finish in the Nations Cup at Thunderbird Show Park. Furthermore, they won the CSI5* 1.55m PwC Cup and the CSIO5* 1.55m Friends of the Meadows at Spruce Meadows and placed third in the CSI5* 1.60m Friends of the Meadows Grand Prix at the same venue. Other noteable victories for the two came in Coapexpan, Dinard, Mexico City, Monterrey and Vancouver – where the two won the CSIO5* 1.60m Grand Prix in 2019. The pair was also part of the Mexican team that won the prestigious Aga Khan Trophy in the Nations Cup in Dublin in 2018, jumping double clear. In 2017, they won the CSI5* 1.60m RBC Grand Prix, presented by Rolex, at Spruce Meadows.

Babel and Pasquel also took part at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon (USA), the 2019 Pan American Games in Lima (PER) as well as at the 2022 FEI Jumping World Championship in Herning (DEN). They made their last international appearance together in February 2023.

At World of Showjumping, we wish Babel a happy retirement!
