Peder Fredricson has today announced the retirement of his 2024 Olympic ride Catch Me Not S (Cardento x Ramiro’s Son, bred by Krister Svedberg).

“Catch Me Not S – or Charlie, as we call him – is retiring at 19,” Fredricson wrote on social media. “He’s been an exceptional horse in every way. I had the honour of riding him at some of the world’s biggest tracks. He had a fantastic attitude and the kind of scope that made even the toughest courses feel easy. A big thank you to @berglofebba for trusting me with the reins when he was already doing so well with you. It’s been a privilege to share this journey – a true partnership from start to finish. To @kristersvedberg – you didn’t just breed a good one. You bred a true champion. And to the team at @grevlundashowjumping, especially @madde_nord – your care and dedication helped keep Charlie at the top, year after year. A huge part of what made his long career possible. Time to trade in big tracks for green fields and easy days – enjoy it, Charlie.”

Together since 2018, Fredricson and Catch Me Not S have been hugely successful. Last year, the two placed third in the FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Riyadh (KSA) and were part of the Swedish team at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris (FRA). In 2021, the two won individual bronze at the FEI Jumping European Championship in Riesenbeck (GER), while in 2019 they placed third in the FEI Jumping World Cup™ Final in Gothenburg (SWE). They had numerous big wins together, including in the CSI5* 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix in Brussels (BEL) in 2022, the CSI5* 1.60m LGCT Grand Prix in London (GBR) as well as the CSI5* 1.60m LGCT Grand Prix in St Tropez (FRA) in 2021 – to mention only a few of their biggest achievements. With Fredricson, the now 19-year-old gelding placed 7th in the CSI5* 1.60m Rolex Grand Prix in ‘s-Hertogenbosch (NED) in March this year – which came to be their last international appearance together.

At World of Showjumping, we wish Charlie a very happy retirement!
