France’s former Chef d’Equipe Philippe Guerdat will join forces with the Brazilian Equestrian Federation for the 2019 season. “I am still motivated, and I think that this opportunity with the Brazilian team was an interesting option,” Guerdat commented to World of Showjumping.
“At my age, I am already looking to take things a bit easier. I know the Brazilians for years already and they are a very nice and professional group. However, I am not going to take the place of their former Chef d’Equipe Pedro but will simply remain close to them and assist them with everything,” Guerdat points out.
With his years in the sport, Guerdat has built some very close relationships to the riders he has helped and is not in need of another title. “I am still in touch with some of the French riders, and with my new position with the Brazilians I am not looking to close myself off from anything. It is not that I was looking for anything new, really – I could have just helped my son Steve and the riders I know. But like I said, I am still very motivated and I have high hopes for the Brazilians.”
