The postponement of the Olympic Games in Tokyo will not alter the timeline for the implementation of the new hind boot rule, the FEI Jumping Committee has decided. In order not to change the conditions of the sport during an Olympic cycle, the rule was due to be implemented for seniors from 1 January 2021. This date will be maintained.
Consequently, as of 1 January 2021 only hind boots as described in the Jumping Rules art. 257.2.4 and 257.2.5 may be used at FEI jumping events – ref. the FEI Jumping Rules, article 257.2.6.
The new hind boot rule has already been implemented at FEI jumping events for U25, young riders, juniors, ponies, children, amateur owners and veterans, as well as at all FEI World Jumping Challenge Events.
