During ‪Saturday evening‬’s 1,50m class at Liverpool International Horse Show, Sanne Thijssen and her 11-year-old mare Sara Galotiere had an accident. Very sadly, the horse's life could not be saved and Sara Galotiere had to be put to sleep.

A press release from the organizer reads:

“Organizers of the Liverpool International Horse Show announce with a sense of deep regret and profound sadness that the 11-year-old mare Sara Galotiere has been put to sleep.

Sara Galotiere, ridden by Holland's Sanne Thijssen, suffered a freak accident during ‪Saturday night‬'s four-star international jump-off class at Liverpool Echo Arena. The horse received immediate expert on-site veterinary assessment and care.

Nina Barbour, president of the Liverpool International Horse Show, said: "We offer our heartfelt and sincere condolences to Sanne, her support team, the Thijssen family and all connections of the horse.""

With Thijssen, Sara Galotiere jumped up to 1.50m level and together the two won at CSI3* Liege back in November.

Our thoughts go out to the entire team at Stal Thijssen.

We apologize for previously reporting that the horse was involved in a fall, when that was infact not the case.
