The 8-year-old stallion Petrossian BC – a son of Lars Nieberg and Marcus Ehning’s For Pleasure and McLain Ward’s Sapphire, two of the sport’s most iconic horses – will in the future be seen with Germany's Daniel Deusser in the saddle. The stallion has already impressed on the international youngster circuit, together with Belgium’s Jeroen De Winter. Now, Stephex Stables and Tom Grossman of Blue Chip Farms have secured the stallion for Deusser.

With McLain Ward, Sapphire [Safari van’t Merelsnest] won team gold at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004 and in Beijing in 2008. The mare, that sadly passed away in 2014 after being retired in 2012, already has other offspring in the sport such as the 9-year-olds Omano BC by Cumano and Olympic Jac BC by Baloubet du Rouet.

For Pleasure won Olympic team gold in Atlanta in 1996 with Lars Nieberg, as well as in Sydney in 2000 with Marcus Ehning. With Ehning, the stallion also won two team gold medals at the European Championships – at Hickstead in 1999 and in Donaueschingen in 2003. For Pleasure has produced numerous offspring for the top sport.

A statement from Stephex Stables reads

“Stephex has a new Family member!

Let us officially welcome the stallion Petrossian BC to Stephex! He was bought together with Tom Grossman, owner of the Blue Chip Farms, to continue pursuing a top level sporting career under Daniel Deusser.

Petrossian solely grew up with Jeroen De Winter. Together they have tackled young horse classes, collecting fantastic results by winning the 7YO Stallion Class at Jumping Mechelen, becoming finalists in the Belgian Championships for the 7YO, in the World Cup for 7YO in Lanaken, and the Belgian Cup for 7YO, only to name a few.

This BWP Approved stallion is the offspring of two world class showjumpers. His father, For Pleasure, won two gold medals at the Olympics with Marcus Ehning. His mother, Sapphire, has a similar record of two Olympic medals, yet together with Mclain Ward. Petrossian truly has got it all; a fantastic pedigree, a whole string of top results, a top level bringing up and a bright future!

Interested in breeding? Frozen semen will be available soon!”
