After a very successful 2023-season with Shane Sweetnam, Spy Coast Farm’s 9-year-old mare Out of the Blue SCF (Verdi TN x San Patrignano Cassini – bred by Spy Coast Farm) has been sold to Katie Dinan.
“I am very excited to welcome Out of the Blue SCF to our stable,” Dinan told World of Showjumping. “She has already had a great start to her career with Shane Sweetnam, and I am looking forward to getting to know her and to our future together. I want to thank Spy Coast Farm and Lisa Lourie, who not only owned but also bred Bridie, for entrusting her with us, and I am very grateful to everyone on my team for this opportunity.”
Spy Coast Farm announced the sale on Instagram on Thursday, writing: “Congratulations to @katie_dinan on her purchase of Out of the Blue SCF! We wish you the best of luck and look forward to seeing everything you achieve together! As always, much gratitude to @shanesweetnam for piloting this special mare to international success this past year and to our fantastic Young Horse Development Team for laying the foundation.”
With Sweetnam in the saddle, Out of the Blue SCF entered the international scene in September 2022. The pair, that ended up making their last appearance together at CSI5* Greenwich in October, won this year’s CSIO5* 1.60m Sport Ireland Classic in Dublin, placed second in the CSIO5* 1.60m Grand Prix in Vancouver, second in the CSI5* 1.50m Prix L’Eperon in Dinard, third in the CSI5* 1.50m Jumper Classic at Traverse City, and fifth in the CSIO5* 1.50m Stawag Prize at CHIO Aachen – to mention a few highlights from this season.
To World of Showjumping, Sweetnam commented: “I wish Katie the best with this superstar mare. I will miss her.”
