Australian showjumper Amy Graham has had six of her horses return positive tests for EHV-1 after coming home to her stable in France, from the Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain. The PCR tests were taken on the 8th of March, with six out of eight coming back positive, Graham informed in a statement released yesterday.
Graham told that all horses currently are asymptomatic, and are being monitored closely as well as treated with the best veterinary care possible.
“Our horses were all up-to-date on their vaccinations, including EVH-1. We maintain our vaccination program diligently to help protect from disease. Unfortunately some have still contracted EVH-1 form in Spain,” Graham stated – adding that she had notified the FFE, FEI, Equestrian Australia, Sunshine Tour, her owners and clients, the riders in boxes close to her at the Sunshine Tour and any surrounding riders that may have had contact with the horses in Spain.
Earlier this week, one horse in Belgium also tested positive to EHV-1 after returning home from the Sunshine Tour.
