Stephan Conter – founder and CEO of the Stephex Group – and Eric Berkhof – CEO of the Van Mossel Group – have acquired the former Hubside Jumping venue in Grimaud, France, a town located just outside jet-set paradise St. Tropez.
The venue in Grimaud, which started hosting international events in April 2019 under the name Hubside Jumping, has been under judicial liquidation since 2024. Last year, the venue – which used to be a sought-after destination with events up to CSI5* level – hosted four FEI shows. Now, showground gets a second chance with the visions of Stephan Conter and Eric Berkhof. Conter is already well known on the showjumping circuit for his unique shows, such as his annual flagship event CSIO5* Stephex Brussels Masters, as well as the popular summer series Knokke Hippique which last took place in 2022.
“What we want to create here with Eric, is not just a showground,” Stephan Conter said in a press release about the venue in Grimaud. “It’s a place where sport, well-being, enjoyment, and the art of living come together. A place to grow, to breathe, to dream.”
Starting in 2026, the venue will host several weeks of international competitions. Large-scale renovations will begin immediately, with a strong focus on sustainability. The new facilities will be built using eco-friendly materials, with responsible use of resources, and a firm commitment to equine welfare in every decision. Two brand-new arenas will be constructed, and the overall experience will meet the highest standards of international equestrian sport.
