The International Jumping Officials Club held its 2018 General Assembly the first weekend of February in Lausanne, Switzerland. With representatives from over 50 nations and more than 300 members, IJOC aims to bring together all active FEI Jumping Officials – stewards, judges and course designers – and offer them an opportunity to stay informed, giving them tools to do their various jobs with the professionalism required. The officials play a crucial role in our ever-evolving sport, and this year over 130 persons from 38 different nations attended the FEI Refresher Seminar for Judges, and the IJOC General Assembly at the Olympic Museum in Lausanne.

Stephan Ellenbruch, who has been the IJOC President for the past eight years, stepped down due to his new role as Chair of the FEI Jumping Committee, and Willem Luiten won the vote that was held to elect a new President.

“In my motivation on my candidacy I already stated that in my opinion 2018 will be a year of transition for our Club”, Luiten told World of Showjumping. “The main goal for our club is adding value to their members. One of the most important improvements we can make is the way we communicate with our members. 2018 will be successful if we succeed to realize more communication moments with our members”, he said. “To do that I have involved all the board members to take active part in this program.”

Stephan Ellenbruch was named an Honorary Member of the IJOC. The Board members are Jon Doney (Vice President), Frances Hesketh-Jones (Secretary General), Carsten Sørlie (Treasurer), Alfred Boll, Kate Horgan, Jane Pelly, Enrique Rey and Theodor Sheytanov.
