Nanna Nieminen: A little stunned after seeing the transformation this place has gone through!

LGCT Valkenswaard 2015

Impressive entrance to the showgrounds!
Impressive entrance to the showgrounds!

Hi everyone,

My name is Nanna, I work for Henrik von Eckermann and this weekend I am giving you guys a glimpse of my daily life. This weekend we are in Valkenswaard for the Global Champions Tour. Right now I am finally sitting down, all set in the stable and the ponies are happy eating their dinner. It took a bit of work to get here thou...

Today started early and not so bright at home, Henrik started riding and I started to pack for the show, feeling very lost after a one week holiday last week. We are working for Ludger Beerbaum and as every weekend, travelling together. This week that meant loading the truck with Gotha, Savita, Catover, Chaman, Colestus and For Sale. Travelling as much as they do, these boys and girls behaved really well on the way and we got to Valkenswaard safe and sound. Only I got a little stunned after seeing the transformation this place has gone through, so I drove to the wrong gate, which meant having to reverse with the trailer. I like to think of myself as a pretty good driver (isn't it like a Finnish thing, look at the F1?) but I must admit this one went to the books of "SOS woman behind the wheel".

Anyway, I was very happy to find our boxes next to my favourite team mate Celia (Rolf-Göran's groom). She helped me get everything unloaded and get the horses to vet check. All the GCT events have the same team of vets and stewards, which I find wonderful, as they get to know the horses and people behind them. This makes work a lot easier, like today me being among the last ones to trot up probably came as no surprise to anyone :)

I just had a little walk around the showground and I must say, what Jan Tops and his team have done and keep doing for our sport is truly impressive. The massive ring here now has almost a Aachen-kinda feeling about it. Looking forward to see what the weekend brings. But now, it's bed time!

Nanna
