Ireland's rising star Michael Pender had a good start to the new week, when taking first and second in Monday's CSI2* 1.45 Grand Prix in Vilamoura, Portugal. Pender took the win on HHS Calais (Cavalier Royale x Obos Quality 004) and finished second with HHS Burnchurch (Heritage Fortunus x Cavalier Royale).
"It's fantastic to be back at the shows, and my horses feel fantastic," Pender commented to World of Showjumping. "I'm delighted with today."
In third place followed Spain's Santiago Nuñez Riva on Valentino de Hus Z (Vivaldi du Seigneur x Trophee du Rozel), two seconds behind the winning time. Duarte Seabra on Twix V Overis Z) Toulon x Diamant de Semilly) and Hugo Carvalho on Vichy du Puits (Hurlevent de Breka x Thurin) followed for the host nation in fourth and fifth place.
