The Belgians dominated Sunday’s CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix de la Province de Liége on home soil, with Andres Vereecke (BEL) and the 10-year-old mare Perle d’Or van de Gaverstede (Wandor van de Mispelaere x Equistro van de Mispelaere) taking the top honours ahead of Jos Verlooy (BEL) and FTS Killossery Konfusion (SIEC Livello x Cruising) in second, while Nathan Budd (BEL) aboard Touardo Blue Z (Toulon x Arko III) completed the podium in third.
Five from the 48 horse-and-rider combinations at start cleared the first-round track and joined the deciding jump-off, where Vereecke delivered the only clear in 45.34, taking the win as the only double clear in the competition.
Verlooy had to settle for second with four penalties in 42.32, while Budd took third in 44.20, also with four penalties. Stephanie Macieira (BRA) and Novak de Kalvarie (Catoki x Calvaro) followed in fourth, while Alexa Ferrer (FRA) and Vitalhorse Fleur d’Oz (Olimbos Merze x Papillon Rouge) finished fifth.
