Dutch rider Maikel van der Vleuten and Dana Blue (Mr. Blue x Hemmingway) took yet another victory at Hubside Jumping in Grimaud, France on Friday, when topping the CSI4* 1.50m world ranking class.
In the jump-off, van der Vleuten finished 0.58 seconds ahead of Great Britain's Scott Brash with Hello Mr President (Comme d'Api V/D Hacienda Z x breeding unknown), while Belgium's Olivier Philippaerts followed in third with Blue Diamond v't Ruytershof (Plot Blue x Diamant de Semilly) – three seconds behind the winning time. Brazil's Marlon Modolo Zanotelli ended fourth with Kalinka van de Nachtegaele (Epleaser Van T Heike x Cicero Z) after delivering the last double clear in the jump-off. With one down against the clock, Belgium's Jos Verloy had to settle for fifth this time aboard Jacobien Dwerse Hagen (Va-Vite x Querlybet Hero).
“It was a great class, with a perfectly build course," van der Vleuten commented. "I really think the main difficulty was the time allowed: You could hardly make it without taking out strides. We all had to take risks, and inevitably, they resulted in some faults. There were ten of us in the jump-off, which is perfect with such formidable competitors. Dana Blue is in great shape now, which she has shown lately. If I hope for a third victory in the CSI4* Grand Prix? Why not, but everything can happen so quickly. My fingers are crossed."
