Bas Moerings (NED) and the 9-year-old mare Kivinia (I'm Special de Muze x Calido I) took a home win in Saturday's CSI4* 1.50m Van Mossel Prize at Jumping Indoor Maastricht 2024 in the Netherlands.
With a time of 36.10 seconds, the Dutch rider bested a field of 35 after a jump-off between six horse-and-rider combinations. "Kivinia is like a Formula 1 car: I have a brake on the left and right and only need to steer," Moerings said in a press release from Jumping Maastricht. "There's no need to accelerate because the engine is always running."
Nina Mallevaey (FRA) and Dynastie de Beaufour (Diamant de Semilly x Cassini I) took the runner-up spot after stopping the clock on 37.43 seconds, followed by Katrin Eckermann (GER) and Chao Lee (Comme Il Faut 5 x Chacco-Blue) in third with a time of 38.02. Annelies Vorsselmans (BEL) on C. Kulottie W Z (Comme Il Faut 5 x Guidam) finished fourth in 41.81, and Victor Bettendorf (LUX) aboard Kenia Heureka Z (Kassander van'T Roosakker x Zandor Z) fifth with eight penalties in 37.45.
