Billy Twomey (IRL) and the 14-year-old mare Lady Lou (Lord Z x Caesario) won Saturday’s CSI4* 1.45m La Equina Small Grand Prix at the Andalucía Sunshine Tour in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain.
A total of 96 horse-and-rider combinations had lined up for the class, and 20 of them managed to produce clear rounds to move on to the jump-off where Matthew Sampson (GBR) took an early lead with MGH Candy Girl (Sligo Candy Boy x Cruising) in 32.84 seconds. However, Sampson had to see himself beaten by Twomey who snatched the win when finishing 0.33 seconds ahead.
Taking third in 34.17 seconds was Sergio Alvarez Moya (ESP) and Charisma HS (Uriko x Cassito), followed by Kevin Jochems (NED) and Christianus (Christian x El Bundy) in fourth in 35.27, while Edward Levy (FRA) and Broadway de Mormoulin (Kannan x For Pleasure) ended fifth in 36.59.
