Double European and World Champion Jeroen Dubbeldam was the one to go to the top in Thursday's opening CSI5* 1.45 competition at Glock Horse Performance Center in Treffen, Austria. Riding the 14-year-old Camilo LS La Silla (Portofino x Cor de la Bryere), the Dutch rider was lightening fast with a time more than two seconds quicker than that of his compatriot Gerco Schröder on Glock's Zaranza (Karandasj x Heartbreaker). In third came Swiss rider Pius Schwizer on Tarioso Manciais (Arioso du Theillet x First Bride).
"Last year, it did not work out with victories here," said Dubbeldam after. "I am pleased that I was able to come back here. That it worked out with a win on the first day was not expected. On Sunday, I would also like like to be ahead. Let's see what the next days here at the GHPC in Austria will bring."
It was a good day for Dubbeldam and his team, as his American pupils Wilton and Lucas Porter finished first and second in the CSI2* 1.35 and his girlfriend and partner Annelies Vorsselmans third.
