France's Emeric George and the 11-year-old Dune du Ru (Vagabond de La Pomme x Apache d'Adriers) won Thursday's CSI4* 1.50m Funeraria Gijonesa Trophy in Gijón, Spain.
Stopping the clock on 28.72 in the two-phase competition counting for the Longines Ranking Group C, the French pair bested a field of 39 horse-and-rider combinations. Brazil's Santiago Lambre and Zeusz (Cartogran x Chacco-Blue) took the runner-up spot in 28.79, while Laura Renwick (GBR) and Enjoy Ck Z (Echo van'T Spieveld x Coronado) placed third in 29.24, followed by Billy Twomey (IRL) and Ace of Hearts Z (Action-Breaker x Labor's VDL Indorado) in fourth in 29.58 and Kara Chad (CAN) aboard Igor GPH (Harley x Crawford 5) in fifth in 29.86.
The second CSI4* class of the day, the 1.45m Dicar Trophy – also counting for the Longines Ranking – went to Belgium's Constant van Paesschen and the 9-year-old Just Too Late d'Hof-Ten-Bos (Bentley van de Kapel x Quidam de Revel). Stopping the clock on 64.18 in the class judged by faults and time, the Belgian rider took the win ahead of Julio Arias Cueva (ESP) and Filou du Manoir (Salto de I'Isle x Grenat de Grez HN) in second in 64.54 and Laura Renwick (GBR) aboard NFS Angelina (Arko III x Couleur Rubin) in third in 64.88.
