Ireland's Denis Lynch and the 12-year-old gelding Hunter (Quintender x El Bundy) took Friday's biggest win at Longines Tops International Arena in Valkenswaard, the Netherlands, as the first week of their Summer Festival 2023 kicked off.

With a time of 67.86, Lynch and Hunter were the quickest in the CSI4* 1.50m Table A against the clock, besting a field of 46 horse-and-rider-combinations and taking the win ahead of Austria's Max Kühner and EIC Cooley Jump The Q (Pacino x Obos Quality) in second in 68.17. The hosts started the weekend by showing great form, with three Dutch riders following in third, fourth and fifth: Harrie Wiering and Harley (Carrera x Frontal) placing third when the clock stopped on 69.21, while Kevin Jochems and Flying Jackie (Nabab de Reve x Voltaire Pref) finished fourth in 69.75 and Maikel van der Vleuten fifth in 69.95 aboard Luigi d'Eclipse (Catoki x Calato).
