The inaugural Longines Versilia Horse Show at Lido di Camaiore, Versilia, Italy, concluded on Sunday with a home victory for Giulia Martinengo Marquet and the 10-year-old gelding Captain Morgan Weering Z (Carrera VDL x Arezzo VDL) in the CSI4* 1.55m Giorgio Armani Grand Prix presented by Longines.
Eight out of the 50 horse-and-rider combinations at start in this competition counting for the Longines Rankings Group A cleared Uliano Vezzani’s (ITA) first round-track and joined the deciding jump-off, where Martinengo Marquet clocked the winning time of 43.32 seconds.
Aurelien Leroy (FRA) and Vendome d’Ick (Arko III x Chin Chin) took the runner-up spot after stopping the clock on 43.46 seconds, followed by Celine Schoonbroodt-De Azevedo (BEL) and Clinto T Z (Clintissimo Z x Indoctro) in third in 44.60.
Anastasia Nielsen (MON) and Franco 79 (Firth of Lorne x Coronas) finished fourth with a time of 45.72 seconds, while Martin Fuchs (SUI) and L&L Lorde (Clyde LVB Z x ) had to settle for fifth with four penalties after recording the fastest time in the jump-off – 41.04 seconds.
