After taking Thursday’s biggest win at Jumping International Gassin in St Tropez, France, Belgium’s Gregory Wathelet continued his winning form by topping Friday’s CSI4* 1.50m Prix Polo Club Saint-Tropez – this time around with the 13-year-old Argentina de La Marchette (Acajou de La Marchette x Del Piero PB).
The Belgian duo took the win with a time of 40.07 in a jump-off between six horse-and-rider combinations, leaving Jean Luc Murier (FRA) and Dionysos d’Aiguilly (Jarnac x Heartbreaker) to the runner-up spot in 42.63.
Only the top two posted a double clear result: With four penalties each, Abdel Said (BEL) and Arpege du Ru (Apache d’Adriers x Quat’Sous) had to settle for third – despite clocking the fastest time of the competition, 38.99 – while Melissa Garbail (FRA) on Dandy de l’Eyre (Iowa x Ephebe For Ever) finished fourth in 39.79 and Nina Mallevaey (FRA) aboard My Clementine (O.B.O.S Quality 004 x Kashmir van Schuttershof) fifth in 43.51.
