British rider Guy Williams wrapped up the 2017-edition of the Sunshine Tour with victory in Sunday's CSI4* Invitational Grand Prix. Williams also won this class in 2015 and 2009, but Sunday saw one of the most spectacular jump-offs in the Invitational's history.

After a demanding first round, there were eight riders in the jump-off. The shortened track was twisty, and the long gallop to the last fence was one of the key places to gain time. Guy and Depardieu van Kiezelhof (Thunder van der Zuuthoeve x Lantano) set the time to beat to an incredible 41.28 seconds.

None of the other competitors could beat Williams' time. In a very accurately ridden and extremely fast round, Fabienne Daigneux-Lange (BEL) just slid into runner-up position in 41.41 seconds on her wonderful Venuee d´Fees des Hazalles (President x Alcatraz). The very last to go in the jump-off was Dermott Lennon (IRL) with Loughview Lou-Lou (Limmerick x Jack Of Diamonds), and the pair gave it a good try to finally end up in third in a time of 42.75 seconds. Virginie Thonon (BEL) was fourth, and Michael Viehweg (GER) fifth.

Guy Williams was extremely happy with this win and also delighted with his victory in Saturday's small Grand Prix on Casper de Muze: "This has been an incredible week, winning two of the most important classes. It is also the third time I have won the Invitational Grand Prix here, and the Sunshine Tour is a very special event for me. It is a Tour that I really enjoy and I feel very at home here."
