Hans-Dieter Dreher (GER) won Saturday night's CSI4* s.Oliver Championat of Salzburg, where 50.000 Euro and a new Smart car from Hause Pappas Automobile GmbH was up for grabs.
The 1.55m competition had 37 horse and rider-combinations in it, with seven of them producing clear rounds. In the jump-off it was Hans-Dieter Dreher on the Contender-son Cool and Easy that was the fastest stopping the clock on 42.11 seconds. "I like to come to Salzburg, it always goes good here. Tomorrow again I hope," said the happy rider after his win.
Wilm Vermeir (BEL) and the only 8-year-old Iq van het Steentje (Toulon x Kannan) followed close behind to finish as runners-up with a time of 42.53 seconds. Much to the joy of the home crowds, Julia Kayser (AUT) ended third with Sterrehof's Cayetano Z (Caretano Z x Cor de la Bruyere) with a time of 43.65 seconds in the jump-off.
Earlier in the day, the CSI4* 1.50m Amadeus Trophy went to Emanuele Gaudiano (ITA) on Guess (Bentley van de Heffinck x Surrealist van 't Paradijs). The competition was the second qualifier for the Grand Prix, and saw nine of the 46 riders going clear with Constant van Paesschen following close behind Gaudiano to take second place on Carlow van de Helle (Caretino x Corofino I). Third place went to Jur Vrieling on Zypern III (Casall x Coriano).
