Ireland's 22-year-old Harry Allen and Calculatus (Cachassini x Contello) won Sunday's CSI4* 1.60m Grand Prix in Gijon, Spain.
Jumped over two rounds, the twelve best horse-and-rider-combinations moved on to the second and decisive round where Allen and the 9-year-old Calculatus delivered the fastest double clear in 45.65 taking the win ahead of Jack Whitaker (GBR) and Equine America Valmy de La Lande (Mylord Carthago*HN x Starter) in second in 46.37.
Robert Whitaker (GBR) and Vermento (Argento x Skippy 12) placed third in 47.74, Abdullah Alsharbatly (KSA) and Atome des Etisses (Mylord Carthago*HN x Quidam de Revel) finished fourth in 48.25 and Luciana Diniz (BRA) fifth in 53.31 aboard Vertigo du Desert (Mylord Carthago*HN x Robin Z).
It was a good weekend at the Spanish venue for the Allen-family, with Harry's brother Bertram winning Friday's CSI4* 1.55m jump-off class with Edison de Hus (Conrad x Galoubet du Rouet) ahead of Jack Whitaker and Equine America Valmy de La Lande in second. Iván Serrano Sáez (ESP) took the third place aboard Rain Man (Chacco-Blue x Pilot), while Harry Allen and Calculatus finished fourth, followed by Mariano Martinez Bastida (ESP) and Jup (Carrera VDL x Siverstone) in fifth.
