Sweden's current world number one Henrik von Eckermann and the 13-year-old mare Glamour Girl (VDL Zirocco Blue x Caletto I) won Thursday's CSI5* 1.50m presented by TV Cuatro in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico.
"She is an amazing mare," von Eckermann told World of Showjumping after his victory. "Her record at this level is incredible. I don't think there are many horses that are as consistent as her on this level."
"The footing and the arena here are fantastic," von Eckermann said about the Mexican venue. "The most important thing at any event is that the horses have it good, and the facilities here are great for them – which makes me happy to be here."
Stopping the clock on 38.76 in a jump-off between 13 horse-and-rider combinations, von Eckermann and Glamour Girl bested a field of 47 participants, taking the win ahead of the hosts' Carlos Hank Guerreiro and H5 Ganesh Hero Z (Gemini GL XX x Diamant de Semilly) in second in 38.89.
Germany's former world number one Daniel Deusser and Otello de Guldenbooom (Tobago Z x Caretino) placed third in 39.68, while Sergio Alvarez Moya (ESP) and Brazilia DK Z (By Cera d'Ick x Argentinus) finished fourth in 40.10 and Emanuele Camilli (ITA) aboard Chacco's Girlstar (Chacco-Blue x Sandro Boy) fifth in 40.48.
