Felix Hassmann (GER) and the 8-year-old Vithargos W.Z. (Vivant van de Heffinck x Conthargos) won Friday's CSI4* 1.50m Fraport Prize, the Championat of Frankfurt, on home-soil in Frankfurt, Germany.
In a jump-off between eight horse-and-rider combinations, Hassmann took the win with a time of 44.90 seconds, followed by Hendrik-Jan Schuttert (NED) on Kailon (Etoulon x Phin Phin) in second in 46.16. Jörg Naeve (GER) and Benur du Romet (Balou du Rouet x Damour) completed the podium after clocking a time of 47.17 seconds, followed by Christoph Könemann (GER) with Henry W (Emerald x Quantum) in fourth in 47.62. The 2024 Olympic Champion Christian Kukuk (GER) clocked the fastest time of the competition – 44.06 seconds – with Mumbai 3 (Diamant de Semilly x Nabab de Reve), but with a score of four he had to settle for fifth in the end.
“The others rode forward in the first combination,” Hassmann said in a press release from Frankfurt. “I didn’t quite dare to do that yet. It was the first time Vithargos had ever done such a difficult class. Vithargos is very fast and turns really well, which is why he won."
