The home heroes delivered at Sweden International Horse Show in Stockholm, as Olympic team champions Henrik von Eckermann and Malin Baryard-Johnsson finished first and second in Sunday's CSI4* 1.55m Grand Prix. The two Swedish riders were the only ones who managed to deliver a double clear round in the Grand Prix, with Von Eckermann being the fastest aboard the 10-year-old Glamour Girl (VDL Zirocco Blue x Caletto I) with a time of 39.60 seconds. Slightly slower with her 41.07 seconds, Baryard-Johnsson had to settle for runner-up position with H&M Indiana (Kashmir Van Schuttershof x Animo's Hallo).
With four faults in the jump-off, Marlon Modolo Zanotelli (BRA) and VDL Edgar M (Arezzo VDL x Marlon) took the third place, while Olivier Philippaerts (BEL) and Miro (Diamant de Semily x Kannan) placed fourth – also with four faults. Ioli Mytilineou (GER) finished fifth after recording eight faults in the jump-off with l'Artiste de Toxandra (Toulon x Kashmir Van Schuttershof).
Henrik von Eckermann was last out in the jump-off, and highly motivated after a weekend without any placings. "Finally! I knew I had a chance and really wanted to go for it. My horse has been doing everything right, but I rode like shit in the Friday class. Today I really wanted to give her a good round," he said. "I know my horse is naturally very fast. I only had to copy Malin’s round and I knew I would be faster, since my horse is very fast over the jumps."
