As last to go in a six-horse jump-off, Lisa Nooren clinched the victory in Sunday's CSI3* Grand Prix of Opglabbeek presented by Cavalor.
Riding the 10-year-old mare VDL Groep Centora de Wallyro (Double's Cento x Aledo), the Dutch rider blew all competition aside with her jump-off round in this 1.55m Grand Prix taking full advantage of both her position as the final rider in the ring as well as her mare's huge stride around the big sand arena at Sentower Park that was packed with spectators on this sunny afternoon.
Sweden's Stephanie Holmén, who works at Peder Fredricson's Grevlunda Stables, held the lead with H&M Flip's Little Sparrow (Cardento x Robin Z) as Nooren entered the ring – however had to see her time shaved down by 0.05 seconds to settle for the runner-up position. Third place went to home rider Gudrun Patteet with Sea Coast Atlantic (Schilling x Aramis De La Cense), who was almost a second behind the winning time.
USA's Reed Kessler finished fourth with Christy 3 (Christiano x Arpeggio), and Poland's Wojciech Wojcianiec fifth with Naccord Melloni (Nabab de Reve x Acord II) – both double clear.
