Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) and the 10-year-old mare Elwikke (Eldorado v. Zeeshoek x Quick Star) opened the weekend at CSI4* Jumping Indoor Maastricht 2022 with a home win in Friday's 1.50m VDL Groep Prijs. 

A qualifier for the Grand Prix, the 1.50m Table A against the clock with a jump-off had 39 horse-and-rider-combination at start, with a total of 21 pairs clearing the first-round track. With a time of 36.41 seconds in the jump-off, Van der Vleuten took the win ahead of Ellen Whitaker (GBR) and Equine America Spacecake (Stakkatol x Kannan) in the runner-up position with 0.22 seconds separating the two riders.

Cedric Hurel (FRA) and Fantasio Floreval Z (Florian de la Vie x Clinton) placed third, while the fourth spot went to Manon Hees (NED) and Kamiel van het Langwater (Wiensender x Beaujolais) and fifth to Ioli Mytilineou (GRE) and La Perla van de Heffinck (Cooper van de Heffinck x Hades van de Heffinck).
