The victory in Saturday's CSI4* 1.50m Longines Trophy at the summer edition of CSI Casas Novas in A Coruña, Spain, went to the host nation when Mariano Martinez Bastida and the 15-year-old Belano vd Wijnhoeve Z (Berlin x Darco) bested a field of 36 pairs.
With a time of 35.61 seconds in the jump-off, the Spanish rider took the win ahead of Constant Van Paesschen (BEL) and Kannavara Z (Kannan x Contender) in second in 37.07, while Rodrigo Giesteira Almeida (POR) and Karonia.L (Harley x G-Ramiro Z) placed third in 37.39. Roger Yves Bost (FRA) and Cassius Clay VDV Z (Calvino Z x Wolfgang) finished fourth with a time of 37.57, followed by Maikel van der Vleuten (NED) aboard Elwikke (Eldorado vd Zeshoek x Quick Star) in fifth in 37.88.
In Friday's CSI4* 1.50m Caixabank Trophy, it was van der Vleuten and the 13-year-old Dywis HH (Toulon x Corofino II) that took the top honours. In a jump-off between fifteen horse-and-rider combinations, the Dutch rider stopped the clock on 33.87 seconds to take the win. Rodrigo Gisteira Almeida and Karonia.L were second when clocking a time of 33.93, while Simon Delestre (FRA) and Crack d'Aiguilly Z (Comme Il Faut x Nabab de Reve) took third in 34.24.
Constant Van Paesschen and Diaz du Thot (Ready Boy des Forets x Diams du Grasset) finished fourth in 34.28, ahead of Fernando Martinez Sommer (MEX) and Cor Bakker (Colandro x Quattro) in fifth in 34.58.
