In their debut at this level, Pim Mulder (NED) and Djoost Again (Cantos x Joost) won Sunday’s CSI4* 1.60m Grand Prix on home soil in Ommen. Mulder was last to go in the jump-off. and crossed the finish line in 38.15 seconds – pushing the previous leader Douglas Lindelöw (SWE) with Zacramento (Cardento x Cortus) down to second place.
“I’m grateful to the Schuttert-family that I could ride here. Normally I can never go to a 4* show. This comes as a surprise to me, but I did feel that this horse could do it. From the first moment I sat on him, I felt that he had a lot of quality and can stretch enormously on a wide oxer. He is a phenomenon, he never gives up,” the happy winner said after the class.
Only three horse-and-rider combinations made it to the jump-off, and third place went to Stephanie Holmén (SWE) with Flip’s Little Sparrow (Cardento 933 x Robin Z 723) after finishing with four faults against the clock. Keith Shore (GBR) ended fourth after recording one time penalty in the first round, riding Mystic Hurricane (Tornado x Magic Motion) and Frank Schuttert (NED) fifth after being the fastest four-faulter from the first round with La Fille Rouge (Couleur Rubin x Quattro B).
Earlier in the day Wilton Porter (USA) won the 1.45m Medium Tour Final riding Delinquent JX (Darco x I Need You). The American talent was followed by Jos Verlooy (BEL) with Herald van’t Ruytershof (Lord Z x Diamant de Semilly), Daan van Geel (NED) with Escobar (Air Jordan Z x Lupicor), José Maria jr Larocca (ARG) with Vangoth Des Besnards (Quartz du Chanu x Quidam de Revel) and Simone Blum (GER) with Cool Hill 2 (Corlensky G x Al Cantino).
